For a four weeks project in Advanced Game Art at Future Games, I decided to make a game ready hair asset for the first time. I wanted to practice making a type of hair style that is suitable for the character im currently working on, so I used the bust and face from that project and eventually chose to texture it aswell using Substance Painter. I tried out different workflows on how to place the hair cards during this project and ended up handplacing all cards in Maya. The hair card textures are created with Xgen, Arnold and Photoshop at a 4096 x 2048 resolution and the assets tricount is 24k. Rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 3.
I decided to move on with this character and make a full character of Valerie Duval. The concept is based on Paul Bonners version of Valerie Duval from the Doomtrooper addition to the Mutant Chronicles trading card game. All pouches and clothes are made in Marvelous Designer.
